The Dearborn Area Nature Alliance offers the opportunity for residents in South Decatur, Dearborn Heights and Midway Woods to work together to take care of the treasures in our midst and to have fun in the process. We envision a neighborhood collaboration on ecological projects in our backyards and Dearborn Park. This group will expand upon the valuable work already done in the Dearborn Park area, where neighbors in recent years have cooperatively removed invasive plants from trees, trails and creek banks and have mobilized successfully to prevent development on the west side of the park.

We hope to establish a network so that individuals can work together to help with many more such ecological projects, whether in public spaces or in each other's back yards, sharing not only their labor but also their experience and expertise.

You can help in the following ways: participate in scheduled workdays in Dearborn Park and other natural areas of our neighborhoods; help us find ways of increasing our impact by influencing public opinion and public officials; and help us to identify and find funding for projects that need professional help.
